we spend time in abandoned homes looking for life.
giving second lives in words or images somehow
is important, interpreting what might have been
and the how it is that these houses are now vacant.
i have been back to this house now a couple of times.
this last time as the time before i stood with the 'debris'
quiet and listened to the wind move the torn curtains, coming up the stairs,
and through the fallen foundation.
there are still no answers
and even more questions.

  1. I wish I could tell you how much you give words to my moments. These pictures take me to places of my yesterdays, and your words... well I too have stood with the debris, quieted humbled, and listened as the wind, the secrets of those past and still fading memories whipped softly through torn curtains, the masks I used once to protect myself... but then it changes and I start all over again...

Who said life imitates art or art imitates life or some shit... When I read you, along side your photos... I get that.

  4. Tom - I believe you do wonder.

Dan - Glad to see you. Thank you.

Dana - You make me feel connected with the outside world, things that are important to me are noticed by others.
    Thank you.

  5. The second time through I was shocked by how the house was situated. It was all different to me. I had based my memories on assumptions. This makes me wonder how often we do this in life.

These shots are something special. Could be an uncountable series, really, of just this one house.
